My future is connected with ecology

Second  part of the story

The bank of the river

Once she walked on the bank of the river and  was very upset. It was badly polluted  by fishers. Some fisher threw empty plastic bottles,  different bits of wood, plastic packets  away. Children threw empty crisp packets  and sweet forfeits everywhere. Somebody threw empty paint containers  on the river bank. Somebody threw the rubbish in the river. The pollution could kill lots of fish and baby ducks. There were colorful bits of glass on the ground. She was in great despair. She got a headache and went home.

Suddenly she heard loud noise. She looked through the window and saw students of the village school. They were with their teachers. But what were they doing? Some students were holding big bags. Some students began to clean up the rubbish on  the bank of the river. They put empty crisp packets, sweet forfeits, paint containers, plastic bottles, metal cans and tins, empty cardboards, bits of wood and wire in big bags. They loaded the rubbish on a big lorry. Soon a part of the bank looked like a new place, neat and clean, with no rubbish anywhere.

Mrs. Smith wanted to join them and hurried up to the students. They worked together with great enthusiasm and were happy. How nice was the bank of the river now! One of the teachers took some photos of Mrs. Smith and students working  together. Mrs. Smith told them  about the live in the past:  about a lot of fish in the clean water of the river, children swimming there, people taking water for their needs in this  full - flowing river. One of the teachers told her about the environmental project  “The bank of the river”. The idea was to clean up the banks of the river. “ It is a great idea”- said Mrs. Smith with a smile.
